ISA: A gourmet's delight at International Food Bazaar
The extraordinary crowd at the City Campus Student Union witnessed the pride and savored the mouth-watering cuisines from various corners of the globe. The International Food Bazaar, an annual major UNL event looked forward by its food lovers and culture-seekers, was held on November 18, 2008 from 11am to 2pm. The motley plate of India Students Association - UNL served a wide spectrum of taste-bud tantalizing menu such as hot and spicy Tandoori Chicken, fresh-white Idli (steamed rice flour patties) and delicious Sambar (vegetable and lentil stew) .Topping the list for the day was the aromatic and innovative Tangy Pineapple Soup which attracted many Indian food lovers to our booth. Just like no Indian meal will seem complete without a dollop of sweet, we offered lip-smacking Gulab Jamun (golden-brown fried wheat flour balls, coated with thick sugar syrup) to lure our visitors with sweet tooth. Apart from its wide range of appetite-teasing course, the ISA quenched the thirst of many with its ever-refreshing Mango Lassi (chilled yogurt drink) with a zingy palate to savor the Indian taste for rest of the day. In addition to tasting the Indian culture through its food, we offered Mehndi (Indian Henna Tattoo) drawing to imprint the ancient tradition with authentic Indian designs on people from all walks of life. The event was a massive hit among the UNL community as they did not fail to seize the opportunity to taste such ethnically-diversed food from all around the world regardless of its geographical boundaries, under-one-roof at a reasonable price in the spirit of global community as a whole.
